Gabriella, I will certainly try to do this!

We just never think of salads when planning our menus; this is a good excuse to squeeze a few in.

Hah. I am so going to force Chopper to make salads.

I love salad bars, and our nearest nice grocery (we are kind of near the inner city and this is a nice distinction--our nearest grocer is a small, old-fashioned grocery that doesn't offer such space takers as salad bars but is cheap and easy to get into, and the second closest employes gangsters or gangster-bees and I won't patronize them. I've told their management about it.)

I get small pile of the mesclun mix, a bit of carrots, red cabbage and green onion, then peas and corn, and hard boiled egg pieces and bacon. Top with Thousand Island dressing at home (I don't trust the containers in the salad bar, and a bottle of good salad dressing is cheaper than the packetized salad dressing they offer.... my current favorite is Wishbone Thousand Island with Bacon, it gives it a nice crunch).

Great idea. I'm making a lot of salads--so I'll take part.

Stephanie, I know what you mean about fitting them into the menu which is why I tend to make them the whole meal.

Mrs D - At a girl. You tell that Chopper to get chopping some veggies.

Dragonet - Well that is great that you have a place to get such a yummy salad. I am totally with you on not getting the dressing from those big vats of dressing they have at those salad bars.

Sher- Great! I look forward to your salad.

Great idea! I was thinking about doing a theme on "hot weather food" but as usual I am a few steps behind the blogosphere. I will enjoy your roundup and maybe even participate if I can get my act together.
Thanks for dropping by my blog--sorry it took me so long to return the favor. There is a lot of good stuff here! I'll be back!

Andrea - That is why I am making it such a long lead time on the event so people can have some wiggle room. I would love it you joined in.

Salads, you say? Why yes, I've been making salads! I'd like to join in and get ideas. I will e-mail you my URL. Thanks.
